More than two-thirds of Clare GPs have signed up to a new contract that allows for free GP care for children under the age of six.

Figures released by the HSE show that contracts have been issued to 53 GPs here, and that 36 of these have been signed and returned as of last evening.
This rate of 68% is higher than the national average.
The majority of Clare doctors have accepted the scheme in spite of high-profile opposition from some local medics, including Shannon-based Dr. Yvonne Williams who has taken a High Court action against it.
