A decision on Fianna Fail's Clare Candidates for the General Election is in sight, as the party sets its deadline for nominations.

Would-be candidates have until June 22nd to submit their nomination papers, though no date has been set for a selection convention.

There's been internal criticism of a lack of clarity regarding Fianna Fail's election plans here, particularly from Dr. John Hillery who's seeking a nomination to contest another election for the party.

He's expected to face competition from fellow Miltown Malbay man Michael Malty McDonagh, the Chairman of Clare GAA, as well as Quin Councillor Claire Colleran Molloy and Rita McInerney from Doonbeg, while sitting TD Timmy Dooley will be seeking re-lection to the Dáil.
