Irish Water has identified 151 Clare homes that have a possible lead pipe connection.

The state utility is not outlining the specific areas where homeowners are affected, but says it is writing to the individuals concerned to inform them of their findings.

They're also warning people who live in houses which were built up to and including the 1970s, then there is a possibility of lead piping in their homes.

The government has announced that grants will be brought in to help those on lower incomes replace the pipes, and Jerry Grant from Irish Water says people in affected homes will likely need to take action.
