Ruan native and world renowned musician Sharon Shannon has urged people to support the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association's awareness campaign this month, following the death of her mother last December.

The IMNDA is asking people to organise events to support their services for families affected by the deadly neurological condition as well as research on treatments for the disease.
Speaking on Clare FM's Morning Focus ahead of her appearance at the Doolin Folk Festival, Sharon Shannon offered her support to the campaign and recalled the loss of her mother Mary last November
