Aintree gets set for grand national with Clare interest again

The John Smith’s Aintree Grand National takes place this afternoon in Liverpool.

"Ballabriggs" will be aiming to become the first horse since "Red Rum" to win back to back Nationals, but Cheltenham Gold Cup winner, "Synchronised" looks set to go-off as favourite with Tony McCoy on-board.

There’s a 14-strong Irish challenge in this year’s race, with Gordon Elliot’s "Chicago Grey" and the Willie Mullins-trained "On His Own" the most likely to win.

Clare too has its own interest as Noel Gylnn’s Becauseicouldntsee in action for the second time in the race.
