As one former county star prepares to take the reigns of the Clare Senior hurlers, another is taking over the top hurling job in Offaly.
Two-time All Ireland winner Ollie Baker is to be the next manager in the faithful county after receiving a recommendation last night from the committee set up to find a successor to Joe Dooley.
The Doora-Barefield man worked with Dinny Cahill in Antrim, having previously been part of a number of setups in Clare hurling.
His appointment is to be ratified by the Offaly county board at their meeting in November, where he will also unveil his selectors – however fellow Clareman Alan Cunningham has come on board to work with him as a coach.
